We've all heard that the small business is the backbone of our economy. We are expected to do our part and hire people, pay employer taxes, that are outrageous, or pay self employment taxes, which are also outrageous, and yet all of the politicians are supposedly looking out for our interest? Something doesn't add up. With friends like that I don't need enemies. Maybe we should look out for our own interest. Maybe we should do what we need to do to survive this economy, instead of looking out for those who are no longer looking out for us. I see it all of the time. Employees were raised up to be loyal to a company and the company would take care of them. They could work at a company for 25-30 years with the assurance they would get annual raises, increased benefits and a nice retirement package for their years of loyalty. Well, I think that ship has surely sailed. It is evident by employers shipping jobs overseas, company layoffs and corporate downsizing that has occurred in this country for the past 10-15 years, causing unemployment to soar. If companies aren't shipping their jobs overseas, they are forcing loyal employees into early retirement, and hiring 2 new employees for 1 retired employee to work for low wages with no benefits. This is the reason so many loyal employees forced from their jobs, went to work for themselves. Now it seems we may have fallen for the hokie doke again. As stated earlier, we are told to hire people to help the economy, but the government has forgotten to take care of us with lower tax rates and a healthy economy. Thus, we have been duped again, as neither of those things have occurred.. Well no more. Now it's time for you to do what you need to do to increase your bottom line. Calculate the cost. If paying employer taxes cost you less than outsourcing your workforce, and subcontracting your workers, then continue to do what you are doing. But if you add up the total cost of federal income taxes, social security taxes and federal unemployment taxes and find that it's cheaper to outsource, then, you need to outsource your workforce.
